Vani holds a PhD degree in biotechnology and she has been involved with Academia and corporate scientific sectors for past 10 years. She founded FAiTH Foundation- a dedicated platform to provide empowerment to children, teenagers and adults.
She started her journey in Bangalore and her work is now spread in Singapore and Cambodia too. Dr. Vani is a woman who lives by the philosophy that ‘one dream because one has power to achieve.’ She is a scientist by education, writer and humanitarian worker by choice. Her vision is to create 25 million safer children globally by 2025’ and she aims to achieve it through Education, Prevention & Intervention. The work being done by her, her organization and her team transcends geographical, religious, racial, ethnic, cultural, linguistic and political boundaries, biases & prejudice. We work on the basis of universal humanity, kindness, compassion & empathy. She is Founding director of social change organization Sanrakshan Pte Ltd Singapore and founder and managing trustee of Faith Foundation Bangalore India. Both her organizations are dedicated to working towards the welfare of children and women. The prime focus of her work is eliminating the trauma of sexual abuse and violence inflicted on vulnerable women and children.
Her organization Faith Foundation Trust holds ‘Guinness book of world record’ for conducting the largest child safeguarding session of the world”.
Efforts of her organizations have also been admired by Nobel Laureate Mr Kailash Satyarthi in the form of Gratitude Award that was given to Faith Foundation jointly by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Young Indians (YI) and Dr Kailash Satyarthi.
She has also received the recognition of “Woman leading with purpose” by “What next asia” platform. Her work and portrait was displayed as a part of one month long exhibition in Singapore by What Next Asia.
She also runs a very popular mentorship program Drive to Passion in Singapore where she personally mentors the writing and social work vertical of the program. Her recently published book along with fellow writing vertical participants titled “ Swipe left for love” has received accolades at National Poetry Festival Singapore 2018, where she and the fellow participants were invited to read their poems.
She has also been on the panels and advisory boards of various prestigious initiatives, BERG Women Icon Awards, Up Your Game Women Symposium, International Youth Leadership and Innovation Forum, Star Plus Channels Young Achiever series are to name a few.
Lobbying towards efficacy and efficiency of Child protection act of India (POCSO). Her documentation towards her concern on the treatment of victims of childhood sexual abuse and their caregivers was presented in the form of report in Indian parliament in front of Indian Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development Ms Maneka Gandhi.
She is also lobbying towards fair payment and other benefits of humanitarian workers and better CSR (Corporate Social Responsibilities) opportunities to be provided to the NGOs and organisations dealing directly with humans rights and working with women, children and refugees, instead of product based CSR initiatives.
She has also ideated and conceptualized a unique fashion fundraising and visibly platform “Ramp The Cause” that brings out celebrities, thought leaders and and influencers along with general public to raise voices on safety of children. Ramp the Cause Mumbai was covered by 50 major media houses of India and celebrities and influencers of various profiles.
Vani has been majorly involved with various prestigious early childhood intervention institute and women organizations of Singapore such as PPIS Singapore (children from marginalised sectors), Casa Raudha (children and women facing domestic violence and broken family issues), MKAC (Women patients), Association Of Person with Special Needs Singapore APSN, Children’s Cancer Foundation, UN women Singapore. She has also received the word of praise by President of Singapore Her Highness Madam Halimah Yacob for her work towards children and women facing domestic violence.
Through her very popular project ‘Drive to Passion’ in Singapore, Vani has been providing mentorship based launchpads leading towards entrepreneurship, jobs, and career for the women who have sacrificed their career for domestic choices in Singapore. The program involves some of the finest mentors from Singapore who come and provide their master classes for these woman. This program has given jobs to women after the career break, created many successful women entrepreneurs, writers, humanitarian workers etc. Various prestigious and collaborators who associate with her in this journey are Up Your Game, Dance to Bliss, Style Etiquette, Counselling perspective, APSN, Children Cancer Foundation, East coast mom support group, National Poetry Festival Singapore, Melbourne Cup, Malabar gold and diamond Jewellery etc.
Her ‘Project Batam’, is running in association with Ministry of Social and Family welfare of Indonesia providing protection and prevention to Indonesian children from sexual abuse. She is extensively working with the Rohingya refugee women and children in Kuala Lumpur, ensuring their well being and sexual safety. She is currently developing the program towards sustained employment of refugee women in Malaysia with the name Spirits Unbroken.
She has been working with various organizations in Cambodia, providing protection and awareness towards sexual abuse and safety to the children rescued from, brothels and streets of Cambodia.
Vani and her organisations are associated and have been working with various childhood intervention organisations and projects in India. Amidst her scientific and social entrepreneurship journey, she also finds time to fulfill her dream of writing. Her TV series ‘Secrets of Womanhood Season 1’ (aired on channel Colors in 17 countries) was about voicing out the unspoken, unheard and unnoticed issues often faced by women. The series became very popular in Singapore and will be soon renewing for Season 2. She has also done research and written the Screenplay of a travelogue show called ‘Subah Ki Chai’ (Aired on Channel Colors in 17 countries). That was focused on the signatures of Indian heritage and culture in Singapore. The show was supported by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (LISHA).
Before choosing the path of social entrepreneurship, she was working as a senior scientist in a corporate firm. She led a bunch of young scientists to design HIV/AIDS diagnostic devices for developing countries. She is Postdoctoral alumni of Indian Institute of Science IISC Bangalore and she did her Ph.D. in molecular biology from USM Penang Malaysia.
